Test Your Home

Buying a radon test kit can be as little as $10! The only way to know if you have dangerous levels of radon in your home is to test or ask your landlord to test.

Testing is easy, and there are only three steps:

1. Buy a test kit

You can find a radon test kit in any hardware store, like The Home Depot. They usually cost between $10-$15 dollars.

2. Test

Conduct the radon in the lowest livable level of your home. Make sure all windows are closed and keep the test away from any drafts. For best results, keep test 3 feet above the ground in an undisturbed location. Each radon test kit manufacturer will have different instructions, so make sure to read them carefully.

3. Send in results

After the specified time period, put the test kit in an envelope and send it to the testing labs. Depending on the test manufacturer, you will get your results back within a few weeks.

If your radon levels are above the recommended level of 4.0 pCi/L,  it is strongly recommended to mitigate your home.

Mitigation of high radon gas levels is a one time expense that will benefit you and your family for a lifetime. The only way to mitigate radon from your home is by contacting a certified mitigator to get a radon pump installed properly!
