Dr. Chrysan Cronin (Director of Public Health at Muhlenberg College) has been conducting research about environmental risk communication since 2017.
She recognized a specific need for effective communication of radon risk in Allentown, PA after noticing that there were no public service announcements available in Spanish.
With the help of her research students, Dr. Cronin was able to survey over 500 Allentown residents and conduct focus groups to learn where people got their health information and determine how to better communicate environmental risk.
The surrounding environment greatly influences the health of individuals, communities, and regions– just like our own in the Lehigh Valley!
It is important to ensure that health information is available and accessible to all community members.
